Project ID:

Project Type:
Fixed
Budget:
$500-$2500 USD
Project Description:
We are looking for simple translation of student data/information from one school year to the next. We want to gather transition information from teachers of one grade level, then have it resorted by teacher and available the next school year. We currently have a programmed called CIMS from NCS that maintains class lists, records, grades and so forth, but we have no means in which to compile important information on to one program or page that can be electronically passed from one grade level to the next. We also have a program called Tetradata that can sort lists and such, but does not have the component I am describing. We need someone to work with us on what we currently have and what we want, then create, write, and implement the program we need. I have uploaded an example of the transition sheet we currently use as a begining point.
Skills required:
Data Entry,
Data Processing,
Link Building,
Project Management
Additional Files:
transition form.doc

Based in the UK, I do not believe I could help at a realistic bidding price, however, my experience in application migration and reporting could probably shed some light on your solution.
Firstly let me say that I believe that this is a dangerous means of procurement for schools based data.
Having got that off my chest, I would suggest either an intranet based system with web interface or, if you don't think that is faesible, a simple access database should do the trick as it can be secured to specific users and groups.
I assume that Microsoft has deluged its host nation with
cheap educational software as it has done in other parts of the world and that your CIMS database has what we refer to as 'Open Architecture', i.e., you can connect using standard database protocols.
If, as you intimate, you have another application that can access the data held in the
system, I would suggest you have an open system capable of connection from MS Access or something more robust like SQL Server or MSDE that could drive a web page.
The project shouold not take more than 20 days for a competent programmer to complete and a realistic absolute minimum quote would
be in the region of $2k. Anything less than that and I would seriously question their ability.
You could then advertise locally for whichever type of programmer you required.
For CAIST.co to be involved, you would have to add air and travel and accommodation fares unless you provide
them and that would require a reasonable economy of scale, nevertheless, an adversity to the draconian screening procedures recently introduced by your government, no matter how well intentioned would preclude further involvement in the project.
If you find this information useful, please
post a review on us.

With reference to sthompson's plea, American students would be less dismal about their future if they learned how to spell and use American, implore and calibre/caliber correctly. *L*

My bid price is lower only the reason behind it I am new to elance.com. But that doesn't mean my quality of work is cheaper. I will definitely show you best quality work.
Thank you,

Dear Thompson,
I wonder what made you write this word "then wondering why our students are in fact dismal about their futures". What future, who is worried about future I guess you. Why do you people always start crying foul when some one pushes through you and wins an order or
contract. WHen you people win you are happy but if anyone else wins it you have problems with it. If this is so ask your government to get out of WTO treaty and ask each and every american company to close shop from India. For years 80% of these companies went through recession and India gave them a
huge market to sustain them selves who earned out of it America and its companies and who got the benefit americans and not Indians or any one else as a matter of fact. Stop imperialistic thoughts and be fair, when you are in competition accept the out come. Dont just start shedding tears or giving
such nationalistic and patriotic messages.

Mr./Ms. Thompson:
Have you ever wondered what the American companies would have done had there no been overseas market???? Imagine a 1/2 billion of Indians (yeah, I am from India) drinking soda made by Pepsi or Coca Cola? Who gets benefitted from that? Not India, but USA. Imagine the benefits
of the American companies selling anything from cars to soaps to a market that is a billion member strong? Who gets the most benefit? Not my country but yours! For every car sold by an American company, for every soda sold by an American company, for every computer sold by an American company,
there is an Indian company who is getting hit where it hurts the most--its sales. Have you ever thought of that?
But you know what? We accept it as a part of being in the globalized world. How often do you hear Indian companies whining about globalization? Thousands of peoples have got
unemployed because, for example, Pepsi and Coca cola drove out the Indian soda manufacturers. How often do you hear us whining about it?
Wake up Mr./Ms. Thompson. It's the survival of the fittest. If you ain't up for it, then don't be a part of the game!

Dave

As an Americn worker, I must emplore you to do your best to keep the work in the US as opposed to farming it out overseas cheaply, then wondering why our students are in fact dismal about their futures. My personal resume can be found on my personal site (pchacker dot com) and my professional site
is sdac-inc dot com. Take a look at the companies I have serviced, the references to date and the calibur of work performed.
Just as I am doing my part to ensure the survival of the nation I would hope that you would do all in your power to do the same.
Thanks in
advance.
Sincerely,
SThompson
