Sample 1: With much speculation afoot over the past year, it has been confirmed by all sources and sponsors that Mayfest 2010 will go on as usual this year! Last year, the outdoor, family friendly festival was cancelled with the H1N1 outbreak that started to affect the city of Fort Worth. The Fort Worth ISD shut down it's schools and people were discouraged from attending public events. This left Mayfest, Inc. in a hole that many feared would be the end of the popular festival. With only a certain amount of general operating revenue available throughout the year, the festival brings in money to keep the company and it's various outreach and "Trinity awareness" programs going throughout the rest of the year. With no revenue last year, and sponsors losing out on all of their investment money, the future was looking bleak. Luckily, thanks to some creative work on Mayfest, Inc.'s part, the festival will be back on the banks of the Trinity River this year. From April 29th to May 2nd, the city park turns into a family friendly event with various craft booths, artistic performances, local artisans and music provided by the Fort Worth Weekly. There will also be a variety of foods and beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic on hand and 7 stages of live music on over 33 acres. Prices are $5 for children under 12 and $8 for adults, and can be purchased at the gate or online at Mayfest's website. Mayfest is held at Trinity Park off of University Drive across from the Botanical Gardens. Sample 2: I received my BeautiControl Spa Instant Manicure salt scrub today and being a fan of all things sugar and salt scrub I was itching to try it out. No, literally, itching, my skin was DRY! I went about my normal routine when exfoliating. Incense, candles, the whole bit, and I set about trying the product. This company has a very specific focus on "organic". They make products without any unnecessary chemicals and use only natural oils and fragrances. This is supposed to provide a more healthful approach overall, and it really seems to ring true. Prior to using the scrub, I did immediately come up with a downside, no applicator! I've been spoiled by the Body Shop and their little cutesy applicators that come with all of their scrubs. Thankfully, I still had one left with my last scrub, so I used it. I could however picture myself awkwardly applying the scrub with my hands, possibly my loofah. Not pretty. Aside from the lack of an applicator, once I started to applying the scrub, the sea salt does do an incredible job of exfoliating and the oils in the product are quite effective at moisturizing. Overall, the product does what it says it will and a bit more. Post shower, I was feeling baby soft on my arms and my elbows were in heaven! The scent of this particular scrub is a bit strong. It is a very heady citric scent that can start to agitate your sinuses if they are especially sensitive. This problem was easily solved for me after I added a few drops of lavender essential oil, just to calm it down a bit. I would say that I would certainly recommend this product in the future. The price is a bit high, but given the size and the relatively small quantity you need to use for it to be effective, it prices out at about a dollar per use. less
