Personal values can be a very broad topic, especially living in a diversified society where values and ethics differ from person to person or country to country. I am proud to say that I grew up in a society where personal values were based on wealth. Wealth in this instance
meaning quality of life, a healthy faith based family and a dream/goal. Growing up in a third world country namely South Africa, I was faced with poverty, despair, sickness and diseases and yet I still managed to preserve personal values such as celebrating youth and life, honesty, integrity and
dedication.
My most personal value that I hold very dear to my heart is to remain as youthful for as long as I can. I treasure that unique quality children have to see the world through different eyes, to run carefree without worries and retain that innocence that most children possesses. The
society I find myself in today, children can’t wait to grow up, and everything is rushed, even education therefore, the morals I would pass on to others would be to make time to find yourself, drill into them that there will always be enough time to act all grown-up in the years to come.
Next
in line as a principle of mine is honesty and integrity. A good motto to have is to treat others, like you treat yourself. My goal is to be the best representation of myself, someone who is honest, loyal and humbled by those surrounding me. The best role model that comes to mind in this regard
would be Nelson Mandela. He was and still is an inspiration to our nation. He contributed love, peace and forgiveness to anyone who he came across, and just like my fellow countryman I too believe in the power of contribution.
