Project Description:

Hi,

Im not sure if this is possible but we can try!

I have built a web based till system in Perl, it works perfectly and operates a cash drawer and POS receipt printer etc so thats all fine.

My problem is the credit card machine, we would like to be able to link an Ingenico i5100 terminal preferably up to this so that you can feed the amount to take straight from the web interface to the card machine or when you put a card in the machine it notifies the web service. Something along these lines.

I only program in perl my self, so would like someone who is able to show me or make something that can integrate with the machine via the web, so basically when you press buttons it does stuff, or you can give the machine a static IP and feed commands to it.

I have no idea how these machines work but would love to have a way of communicating with it via a web interface or have commands i can send to it so that I can capture the auth data etc maybe too.

If you would like to have a crack at this or have any thoughs etc, please get in touch. Its not mega urgent but is something i would like to develop in the near future.

Im in the UK by the way, ive not got a big budget but will happily pay a fair price for work carried out if it will do the job! :-)

Thanks.

Just to add to this, its important that you have experience in programming Ingenico card terminals as this must be done properly.

The terminal we can use is a Ingenico i5100.

Just to recap, we need to be able to communicate with the terminal from a web interface or perl script, be able to send commands to it and messages to the screen and be able to get the responses from key presses and card data etc back to a perl script.

So we need two way communication.

If you can help, please explain what you have in mind, do not just email us your CV, we want to know what your thoughts are.

Pin pad Photo: http://www.namehog.net/images/i3300.png

The pin pad plugs directly into the card machine.

You must have seen these machines in your local shop, they seem to be able to push questions to the pin pad from there EPOS system. As we do not have EPOS system thats physically there I guess its not so easy, but I do know you can program these yourself and have them web driven. Even if it pulls the commands from a web interface somehow or the display is essentially a web feed it might work.

Also.... sorry just another thought.

The alternative would be to just have the i3300 pin pad connected to the computer via a USB cable which is possible. Then use some kind of web based application to access to the pinpad via the com ports, but unsure as to how you would do this. This way you could process the transaction online, but this solution would be if the other one is not possible.

It says it has RS232 for peripherals. That is fairly easy enough for a PERL script to interface. You need only its programming manual and you should be all set.
