Project Description:

As a Junior Web Designer you will be responsible for designing the layout, visual appearance and usability of our clients’ website.

You will use your knowledge of how web pages are created and your technical skill to:

• Complete a client brief outlining the clients’ requirements, target audience, technology assessment and timeframe.

• Map out the project ensuring that clients’ deadlines are met and outline milestone payment schedules if applicable.

• Provide advice and expertise to increase the quality of our clients work

• Produce a design that will be attractive to the target user, has a logical navigation system and all the features required.

You will report directly to the Design Manager.

Technical skills required:

These are the basic nuts and bolts: HTML and XHTML, CSS, PHP, SQL, Javascript, Actionscript and Flash.
Successful candidates will need to pass the relevant Freelancer exams and be able to demonstrate a medium competency in each discipline. We will refund exam fees upon completion.

Ideally you will have a good understanding of CMS, a working knowledge of Joomla not to mention security minded.

As much of our work is with Joomla sites you’ll need to know how to convert PSD’s into Joomla templates. This is a relatively easy task.

Software Required

The usual Macromedia Designer Suite is preferred but the following are a must:
Dreamweaver, Freehand, Fireworks, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash.

Hardware

We work across platforms so either PC/ Mac is fine. We generally don’t develop in Windows 7 because of software incompatibilities but do test in it.

You need your main work machine, an external drive and a couple of flash drives. A drawing tablet, DVD writer, mobile phone, keyboard and mouse, speakers and ability to video chat so either a built in webcam or digital camera will do. You may occasionally require a scanner, fax and printer.

Location

We don’t mind as long as you’re willing to work at the required times and have a regular supply of electricity and fast broadband internet 24/7.

You will be working mostly to brief so being able and happy to work independent is an absolute must. We will be in touch with you in the mornings to catch up on the work of the day and follow up any issues.

Extras

Great English is a must.

A basic understanding of how computers work is a bonus so if you have any VB, C+ experience let us know.

If you do not supply a portfolio/ CV with references you will not be considered.

This is a full time job that would consist of about 8 hours per day of work.
