Building a AJAX visual interface for a calendar

Project Description:

The project includes two interfaces that would interact with an existing mysql database and display the content inside. The concept of the interface is similar to Google calendar’s day view and week view. Events stored as records in a database would be displayed as blocks of time on a time grid, and their movement will be updated in the database.

Our existing framework is built on ruby on rails, and it would be great if the interface could be built in the same framework with their javascript library. However, it is acceptable to have a AJAX application instead with clearly defined method calls and passed parameters.
