Project Description:

The purpose of this job is to alter a web site that collects double opt-in information into a database and emails to lists from the database. I want to alter and add to the email engine and features.

Tasks: (brief)

one Add an "html" email option to the existing "text and link to graphics" feature.

two Add custom "subject" and "from", fields

three Add custom "Birthday" and "Email" field

four Add an already written software to the site (VFG)

five Add automatic and/or on demand email delivery reports.

six Add checkbox for "Offers from ..." All "If yes in either" option

seven Add Range of Register Dates to the Send Gift Cert Email page as another option for sending to an email list

eight Add an optional auto opt-out option on emails.

nine Add "Off" button to the layout option

ten Automatically removes duplicates from lists selected


Tasks: (explained)

1. Add an "html" email layout option so the layout is pre-viewed in the email on both these pages: "Send Gift Cert Email" and "Send Corporate Gift Cert Email". Currently the recipient is having to click on a link that opens another page to view the layout. The email will have custom info pulled from the database and displayed above the layout.

2. Add custom "subject" and "from", fields
add "custom text" and/or "custom field" option on both these pages: "Send Gift Cert Email" and "Send Corporate Gift Cert Email".

"from" field examples:

3. Add custom "Birthday" and "Email" field
add ability to insert these custom fields into the text of an email.

4. build custom pages to incorporate VFG (see attached VFG-INSTALL-TUTORIAL.pdf)
add a customizable page with VFG inserted. A section of text in the page should be alterable as well as a selection of one or more of several layouts from "Set up Gift Cert Image" page (see video explanation, but not conclusive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2l8RRjvqx8 )

5. Add automatic and/or on demand email delivery reports.
downloadable text reports showing Sent, Date, Time, Layout, Birthdate, Gender, ZipCode, Categories for each list of emails sent.

6. Add an "on" or "off" button on both these pages: "Send Gift Cert Email" and "Send Corporate Gift Cert Email". This "on" or "off" button indicates if there is a "yes" in either one of the "Offers from Other Categories" or "Offers from Selected Categories".

7. Add optional Range of Register Dates field on both these pages: "Send Gift Cert Email" and "Send Corporate Gift Cert Email" as another option for sending to an email list

8. Add an optional auto opt-out option on emails. An "on" or "off" button. On puts an option to opt-out of the email list. This would remove the listing from the regular database and put them in an Opt-Out list that would not be pulled for regular emailing but this list could be downloaded when needed.

9. Add "Off" button to the layout option on the "Set up Gift Cert Image" page

10. Automatically remove duplicates from registrant lists and Corporate lists selected for emailing. A duplicate has the same name, birthday, and zip code (character case doesn't matter). Takes Active over Inactive, Yes over No, then takes the latest registration date.


Requirements: The seller will analyze the problem and write a solution to the problem.
Programming: The programmer will take the requirements and translate them into the language of the computer (and test it).
User installation: The installer will move the software from the place it was created (which is called the development or QC environment) to where you will use it (which is called the production environment). The installer then tests the software to make sure that the installation was done properly and completely.

As the buyer talks back and forth about the project with the seller, those conversations become the requirements.

The seller should create and install the software for an internet web-site: This software runs on a web server and users will access it using their internet browser.

Program Functionality: Making the features "work". Create the page layouts modeling another site: TheBirthdayRegister.com

Browser Type(s) IE and Firefox

Server Hosting Environment: Write code for ASP/HTML pages, and manage site with IIS and Enterprise Manager. sql server, language in visual basic or Csharp, aspx.cs, asp not aspx,

The programmer is responsible for creating their own development and/or qc environment.
The programmer will perform the physical installation, and unless otherwise stated, will be given all necessary permissions to do so.

Legal: 1) I require complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done (so that I may modify it in the future).
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
2a) Any website server-side deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
2b) All other software (including but not limited to any desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute) must include a software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request
(unless specified elsewhere by the Buyer).
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
3b) No part of the deliverable may contain any copyright restricted 3rd party components (including GPL, GNU, Copyleft, etc.) unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND
AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the seller's Seller Legal Agreement.

Other Requirements:

All deliverables must be uploaded before the deadline(s) for this project...with no exceptions. If this contract makes it impossible for a competent person to do this, then do not start this project...but instead alert of an un-arbitratable, illegal project.
