Project ID:
783533
Project Type:
Fixed
Budget:
$750-$1500 USD
Project Description:
The project is to develop a microcontroller based system using fingerprints as access control.
Overview: The project contains two basic components; the FS (Fingerprint Switch) and AP (Administration Program). Each works in conjunction with the other to manage user access to equipment using biometric identification. The user’s fingerprint(s) are registered on a Windows based main computer using the AP program. The administrator selects the machinery the user is authorized to operate. The fingerprint template is transmitted to the memory of the FS unit attached to the approved machinery. When a user wishes to use a piece of machinery, the FS will check to see if the user is authorized and either allow or deny operation.
The administrator has the option to allow users access only during certain periods of day, days of week, etc. The FS unit tracks the users time spent on a piece of machinery. This information is compiled and transmitted back to the AP at preselected intervals. The AP may also be used to schedule periodic maintenance based on machine usage time. The FS unit is equipped with a display that may be used to notify users of maintenance conditions, or other messages the AP administrator wishes to convey to the user.
