dmirx did an excellent job and the results exceeded my best expectations. He is a cooperative and an open-minded guy, and if there is anything wrong with your task - he'll dig to the point and will tell you how to achieve better results. I will certainly hire dmirx again!

    dmirx's reply:

Thanks, interesting project and well paid

I have a server here at home and I need to install SMTP/POP3 or whatever is needed to be able to send mail. I want to use PHP"s "mail" command to send mail, but not only do I need it to work, but I also want to learn how to set it up myself. So what I need is somebody who will have the patience of guiding me step by step through the process of installing it, and answer my questions about what is this, and what is that, and what is this for, and so forth. Of course, the project also includes the tweaking and troubleshooting to make the thing actually work, and I also need to learn how to tweak and troubleshoot myself.I have a web server at home here in Nicaragua. Since virtually every cable modem in the country shares the same IP, I had somebody here at freelancer (member "dmirx") set up OpenVPN to go through the NAT to a virtual server in Germany. I do not know if that should make the project more complicated, but that is a distinct possibility so knowing OpenVPN is going be an absolute plus. Please give me a reasonable price. You are not going to write a single line of code, just teach me how to set this up myself.

I have a reverse proxy server set up now that is located at Hetzner in Germany and forwards the HTTP requests to my server in Nicaragua. On this god forsaken country we only have one cable company, CABLENET/ENITEL and that company uses a single static IP for virtually (if not all) the cable internet users in the country. So the only way to make my server visible from the internet was installing OpenVPN. The problem is that the OpenVPN software was installed in my own computer, and I have to reboot it all the time to use windows, leaving any visitors in Limbo. I want to move all my stuff to an old obsolete computer, and also install the reverse proxy server. And since I might have to do that again in the future, it seems to me that the sensible thing to do is to learn how to do it myself. The problem is that I do not know much anything about Linux. I AM NOT DENSE. I have programmed three dimensional graphics in real time in the Amiga"s blitter in assembly language, and I have 20+ games published in the magazines, mostly COMPUTE! and COMPUTE!"S Gazette. (Ah...! the good old days :D ). BUT, I am, and I like to be, a patient and slow learner. I need somebody who will patiently teach me how to do it, slowly, step by step, and also will be patient enough to answer a barrage of questions about Linux that may come up, many of them not even related to the project.I also need to fix an old computer that appears to have the video card broken: a DELL model DCTR. Not only to replace the card, but to make sure that the new card works fine with Ubuntu. And I also need to install Ubuntu, which should not be a problem because the last time it was a piece of cake, and I have to install an external USB wireless (because as far as I can tell, there is no room to install it inside) and make it work with Ubuntu. And also be patient if another unexpected problem crops up in the process of moving my stuff to the old computer. For instance, suppose that it is not the card but the motherboard that is broken. In that case, I would have to install everything on another computer, not the DELL.Please give me a reasonable price, as you will not have to write a single line of code; only teach me install stuff and then help me tweak the parameters until the thing works.
