  My client is after an Excel spreadsheet for designing tower crane pile caps to British Standard BS 8110. Tower cranes are typically like the attached example temp01.pdf. An example of a simple tower crane pile cap design is included in temp03.pdf.The task is to develop a spreadsheet that will calculate pile loads, required pile cap reinforcement and carry out all necessary ultimate and serviceability checks to make sure the pile cap is safe and can support the required tower crane. Calculations should be accurate. So the spreadsheet needs to do what you would normally do in an office as a structural engineer when designing a pile cap to support a tower crane. The spreadsheet should cover five basic tower crane pile cap layouts shown in attached temp02.pdf.No formulae will be provided with this project. It is assumed that you know what you are doing and know how to design RC structures therefore will be able to derive your own equations. Selection of a design method is down to you, whether it is a beam theory, strut and tie or other... any method that is adequate for tower crane pile cap design is fine.
