I need someone to build me a mysql query for sorting items by proximity. I have table A with thousands of entries, they each have a zipcode field. I need to be able to retrieve lets say, 500mile radius from a user input of their zipcode, these listings must be ordered by lowest distance. There is also another table which stores zipcode information, city, state, latitude, longitude, and the zipcode. Also, this needs to be very robust. I'm interested doing this with Spatial Extension for MySQL, or Sphinx-mysql geolocation. If you want me to pick you, please tell me which way is a better approach to handle a lot of data while keeping resources at minimum. I would ultimately like to see this done with Shinx Geolocation, but PM me with your ideas. A script that does #1 and #2 since there will be a lapse in the latest forum post between the project start and completion. Please note, this is a large forum with over 38,000 topics, 210,000 posts and over 90,000 membersI can provide a staging site for you to work on or I can send you the sql files. Our technical team has been working to make the URLs for the phpbb discussion forum as static and seo friendly. There have been some final bottlenecks and though the prototype seemed to be working but the final thing is not working. Clicking on the sub-categories or topics give the error 'The forum you selected does not exist'. We need a person with same experience of work to give consultancy to the team member to ressolve the issue.
