Create a Mobile Website for a pitch contest

  • Status: Closed
  • Prize: $568

Contest Brief

The idea for this mobile website is pretty straight forward.

There will be 30 pitches heard over the course of a couple of days and it would be great if we could have a scorecard that the audience could use to give feedback to the people making the pitch.

There will be a field to enter the name of the pitch or from a drop down menu with all the names preloaded. There will be a time table made out closer to the date.

Then there will be 5 parameters where users will assign a value of 1-5 for each category, here is a dummy title for the categories which will be subject to change with a weighting attached to each category.

Over all Presentation
Quality of the Idea
Size of the Industry
Quality of the Team
Likelihood of raising funds

And a submit button to add the data to the database. When the data is submitted the page will reload, allowing the user to make a submission on the next pitch idea.

There will be a personal leader board which the user can manipulate to assign the final order of their scorecard.

There will also be an overall leader board showing a cumulative score for all 30 pitches. It would be great if this could update regularly to give a "live" type feel to the votes coming in. This will be for two specific days, however the "live" updates is not a requirement.

Once the voting ends there will be a small game which will be explained to the winner.

Employer Feedback

“My best outsourcing experience so far. They delivered exactly what I wanted in the aloted time even though one of the team members was ill for a few days, they went the extra mile to get the job done for me. Will certainly hire again in the future, Yogesh is a top developer and knows his trade very well. ”

thank you for all the entries. It is down to the final 3 entries.

To give you some feeback I think Yogesh and Iovar did awesome work and the working prototypes are great.

I do however prefer the design from Tiago, but since he didn't submit a working prototype its hard to gauge his ability to devlop a smooth operating app.

Iovar and Yogesh, can you do design? If I got my design friend to give you the elements is it easy to integrate them after you have completed the logic of the app?

Glad you enjoyed my interface. But unfortunately you will lose because you will not receive a complete product (quality design + quality code) that I could have created for you. Anyway, thank you all for the good race and see you another time.

My work is more appropriate for mobile devices because it has large icons which improve its usability. In addition, all coding will be performed according to best practices and recommendations of the w3c institute. I believe that together we can build an app 5 stars. If you need my services I will be waiting ready to meet the requirements requested. Thanks.

@yogesh Yes I will seal the competition
@patil I want coding as well, when I seal the competition this will make it easier
@iovar 1. getting clarificaiton on that. 2. Yes just one per company. 3. Yes if the user wants to change the order they can and it over rides their final verdict. A. Yes the leaderboard is auto generated. B. Yes if the user wants to change they can, otherwise they can leave it the same. 4. No the user only has to complete the scorecard. The game doesnt effect anything other than winning coins. 5. No one the ratings have been submitted they are final. The only editing they can do is the order afterwards, but again once submitted they cant change.

I look forward to the new applications, and please include a time estimation for delivery

Thanks for the quick answer, it helps a lot. I'll come back with a a new entry and a functional prototype, at which time I'll be able to also provide an estimate. If I had to guess, at this stage I'd say we are looking at 1-2 weeks time-frame (after the contest ends), though depending on the type of the game and the amount of changes/extra features requested, it might be more.

Hi, I'd like a few clarifications:
    1) It appears from the new specifications that you will be needing user authentication after all. Will the application connect to an existing database (in which case it'd be nice to know the type of it), or do you need a separate signup process, through the application?
    2) Is it one pitch per company or more?
    3) Do I understand correctly , that the "My leaderboard" rating is a second level of rating and it overrides the per category ratings?
What I understand is: A) User votes on the score card of every pitch, meanwhile "My leaderboard" is auto-generated.
    B) User goes to his "My leaderboard" and changes final order according to taste.
    4) Does every user has to complete all 3 steps (scorecards, leaderboard, game)? Does the game affect anything?
    5) Should users be able to change their ratings after submitting?

    Thanks.

I really like some of the entries so far but I have added a lot more detail to the project including wireframes which should explain the idea further. I have also extended the contest for 3 days and more than doubled the budget so please carefully consider your pitch. Linking to a working prototype is a big thumbs up as well as videos.

A time estimation for job completion should also be included.

I have done all code for submitting feedback to the server. You can see the demo here -- www.cynesoft.com/demos/pitch
Also I have designed an additional analysis page (kind of suggestion, may be you like). In that page, you can track the feedback overall data like -- Total Visits, Total Feedbacks, Number or pitches, Top Rated pitch.
You can see analysis page design here -- www.cynesoft.com/demos/pitch/analysis.html

Hopefully you like my entries. Your feedback is appreciated. I will be available even after the contest for further improvement or work on this. Thanks.

thank you for your questions deemeetar.

    1. no authenticating will be needed
    2. I am not sure of this question. The Company name will be preloaded.
    3. The backend can be php, it doesn't really matter which technology is used

Hello, i'm interested in building this project. Couple of questions though, would you need authenticating(signing up) the users before they can vote(would be a bit more complicated than you suggested), would you input the pitches first into the database and finally, should the backend be built in php(you need backend for processing and saving data).
    Thank you, Dimitar.
