We would like to create a collection of 8 illustrations for the marketing of a horror game. It is set in the Call of Chthulhu universe created by novelist H.P. Lovecraft.
Please illustrate the following items and group them loosely together as pictures or cards. The end result should be a single picture. We expect to have a common style for all the elements. You can use existing pictures on the internet, add filters to them or make your own drawings.
Book: De Vermis Mysteriis
Weapon: Mauser C-96 Pistol
Document: Helminthophobia (Fear of worms) Report from Greenwood Asylum
Talisman: Elder Sign Talisman
Monster: Deep One Embryo in a jar
Ring: Trillion Cut Ring (Azurite Gemstone)
We would like to order more pictures from the winner of this contest.
Mainly set in the victorian era, an ongoing theme in Lovecraft's work is the complete irrelevance of mankind in the face of the cosmic horrors that apparently exist in the universe. Lovecraft made frequent references to the "Great Old Ones", a loose pantheon of ancient, powerful deities from space who once ruled the Earth and have since fallen into a deathlike sleep.
Lovecraft broke with other pulp writers of the time by having his main characters' minds deteriorate when afforded a glimpse of what exists outside their perceived reality. He emphasized the point by stating in the opening sentence of the story that "The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents."
