I am a big believer in balance. Especially when it comes to architecture. I didn't try to chase big, extravagant ideas but rather simply build an extension to a monumental piece of history that is Notre-Dame, a design which respects the past and builds upon the future. Like many others I also think entire roof segment should be more open, open to the public and open to the sunlight. Hence why I chose big glass structure, there is potential to keep entire ceiling open so lightrays directly enter cathedral itself, its a brave idea considering general style of cathedrals in west Europe. Or roof itself could be made accessible to the public, creating green space and additional point of interest.
