I'm a contractor to a telecommunications company based in Samoa, South Pacific
I'm currently compiling the Yellow Pages and am adding some new elements to the book
Standard pages are B5 with graphic area 155 mm wide and 250mm high
I need a mapspert who can help arrange maps for a book. However, I think you should be more graphically inclined than "Mapically"
A good example is
http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=17/[url removed, login to view]
Where the selection of colours creates a nice looking BASE design to work from
(Or Mapbox if you use that)
Overall map of Samoa page space size 310 wide by 250 (goes across 2 pages) with breakout of Apia, Lalomanu, Salelologa, Manase (it will make sense soon). I've attached a crude map (hey, you're the designer! If I could do it would I need to post it?)
3 pages (155 by 250mm) Maps of Upolu Island (include the little islands at each end
4 page Maps of Apia urban area
2 pages maps of Apia Town centre (155 by 250mm)
1 page Map of Lalomanu area (locations of resorts will be provided)
1 page Map of Savaii space size 310 wide by 250mm deep (goes across 2 pages)
1 page Map of Salelologa in detail (locations of businesses will be provided)
1 page Map of Manase in detail (locations of resorts will be provided)
Grid to be laid over the map, landmarks to be included
To be supplied
lat long of businesses with which lists will be made
Suggest you present 1 map from SAMOA as an example of a good design
Remember to make this so a tourist can use!!!
Ever seen someone standing on a street corner trying to figure out where they are and which way they should be going? Its because the maps not working too well for them!
Let me know you read this by telling me where Samoa is.
