Contest Brief

We need a logo for the Life Athlete. This logo will be used on a website, in email, and on a printed book and business cards/letterhead. You can see the client at www.petershmock.com.

Life Athlete is a fitness and self improvement brand that combines sensible movement with a life philosophy based not on competition but on fulfillment. The keys to success are to keep your life in balance, to listen to your body, to move regularly, and to be kind to yourself. From that, your best performance - athletic and otherwise, will arise. Life Athlete is an approach for an entire life - not just young, competitive athletes (although Peter was when he began its development) but for anyone who wants to be healthier and happier, in their 20s or in their 60s.

Peter, the creator, is a two time Olympian (shot put) and long time fitness expert who has worked with the NFL and MLB as well as the PNW Ballet and others. He's a speaker and author and founder of several fitness and training centers. He was born in California, trained in Oregon under Bill Bowerman, who went on to found Nike, and works primarily in Seattle, WA.

The logo should be simple, pleasing, modern, and easy to reproduce. Your inspirations should be Apple, Nike, adidas, etc.

If the logo uses fonts, please provide them/describe them. Convert text to outlines if needed.

Vector source files (PDF or AI or Sketch) should be provided.

Logo alternates should work on light or dark backgrounds and any hard cases (e.g. if the logo is in a red box, you would need a treatment that would work on a red background).

Aspect ratio can vary but if it is strongly vertical, provide a horizontal variant so it can be used in various executions.

Thanks!

PS. A few more thoughts now that we are seeing many (good) ideas come in. There seems to be a lot around running, and high performance running. Life Athlete is not just about performance, and not just for elite athletes. It's a philosophy and system for anyone who wants to improve their life with fitness - be healthier, be happier, be more fit, be a better you. I realize some of you have included pictures of elite athletes just as "props' but I wanted to emphasize that the audience for Life Athlete is broader, and the logo should reflect that: would it appeal to someone who is 40? 50? A woman as well as a man?
