Contest Brief

We (NASA) need your help in designing a 3D printable trophy for our internal crowdsourcing platform, "NASA@work".
NASA@work is NASA's internal employee crowdsourcing platform where employees and projects can post challenges and have other employees work to solve those challenges. We are hoping to have a trophy designed that we can 3D print and award to NASA@WORK challenge winners.

The trophy should reflect themes of Innovation, Creativity, NASA, Exploration, and Achievement.

See the attached files for the NASA@WORK logo (which should also be incorporated onto the trophy).

A section of the trophy should remain customizable with the awardee's name. It is preferable if the design looks good as both single color, 3 color, or full color (depending on the 3D printer available).

The design is expected to be printed at a minimum of 6x6x6 inches/15.25 x 15.25 x 15.25 cm however, it may be scaled up depending on the printer.

All submissions should include at a minimum, images of Front, Side, Isometric, and Top of model.

The winner will need to provide a .STL format file for 3D printing (upon selection).

    hi, I am an architect and not sure how to give a stl file format but i can give you cad or 3d max if won as a final requirement . i would like to participate but won't if i can not deliver your final requirement . would appreciate feed back. thanks. by the way i am a huge nasa fan and my son too !!

      Most modeling tools now provide a way to export to STL for 3D printing. You should be able to find utilities online for conversion if needed.

    How much post processing would be acceptable? Should the .stl include support structures or would you prefer to generate those on your end? If supports included, should they be suitable for any printing medium or a specific one (or group)?

      I think minimal post processing is preferable, but not a dal breaker. It would be best for the .stl to include any support structures. ABS and/or PLC would be most likely medium, but we may be able to print on other materials too, so a flexible design is best. Thanks.

    Greetings NASA! First of all I which to send my congratulations for the latest discoveries (specially on Pluto and Earth 2.0). I am a portuguese creative but a big fan of your explorations and awesome work. I still hadn't the opportunity to enter a contest but I am eager to do it and will start to give it a try in this one.       Multiple parts is where it has to be assemble into a whole complete trophy after it is printed.
