Breaking news: SMART and its sister company PLDT recently redesigned their logos.
Supposed to represent the three pillars of their business (“our Customers, our People, and our Technology”) the revamped logos elicited reactions such as:
“Overall, this feels like it's trying too hard and more important, the Smart brand now feels awfully corporate and has lost the consumer brand vibe the previous one had.” - Brand New ([login to view URL])
“I hate to say this, but I know I'm not alone in thinking so: these logos are godawfully fugly.” - Timothy James Dimacali, Science and Technology Editor ([login to view URL])
“Pero pangit lang talaga yung bagong logos ng Smart at PLDT. #ripPLDTlogo” - Kay Aranzanso, Graphic Designer ([login to view URL])
Think you can do better? Time to roll up your sleeves -- let’s #GetWorkDone!
HERE’S WHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO
Submit your own redesigned PLDT and SMART logos.
Submit your designs and tell us why they’re waaay better than the telco’s new logos.
1. The designs DO NOT NEED to follow SMART & PLDT’s colors and patterns palette. Submit your unique composition.
2. Submit screen quality JPEG and PNG files.
3. Make sure the logos highlight their three business pillars: Customers, People, and Technology.
4. Include a short description (maximum of 100 words)
The design which highlights PLDT and SMART’s business pillars in a visually-appealing manner wins the top prize of $150.
Two runners-up will also be chosen, who will receive $75 each.
This logo contest is just for fun -- SMART and PLDT won’t use your logos. (Boo.) But if you want some additional exposure for your creative work, upload your design and the link to your contest entry on social media using the hashtags #ANewerDay #GetWorkDone, while tagging @Freelancer.
