Freelancer.com is running the Restore Your Corner Challenge as part of the Moonshot Innovation Program. Through this Challenge, Freelancer.com wants to build a global community of people who care for nature, share inspirational stories, and create a shared library of best practices from around the world.

Getting involved is simple.

As a team or individual, pick a natural area near you that you think needs care – a park, forest, lake, urban precinct, river, ocean, wetland or a similar site.

Carry out meaningful restoration work, film the process from beginning to end, and collect data to show:

The Restore Your Corner Challenge is part of the Freelancer’s Moonshot Innovation Program which has yielded incredible solutions for NASA, CDC, NIH and other agencies. Now any enterprise can use the program to find solutions to their own challenges – and achieve their moonshots.

Challenge Background

Ecosystem restoration is the process of helping to recover areas that have been degraded or destroyed. Many types of ecosystems can be restored including cities, farmlands, forests, oceans, lakes, and wetlands. Restoration can be done at all scales from the removal of a dam to improving a plot of land by removing invasive species and replacing them with native plants.

The Restore Your Corner Challenge is open to competitors worldwide. The Challenge invites people, communities, and groups to restore natural areas where they live. Participants will make a video showing their restoration work and provide background information about the project.

The Challenge is looking for individuals and teams that can make an impact in restoring an area of their local ecosystem while the Challenge is open. Your impact needs to be documented from beginning to end to show the impact both on the ecosystem and the people that helped and the people that live in or near the ecosystem. We’re looking for compelling projects and videos that tell the story of the work, the impact, the people doing the work, and any plans for continuing the restoration into the future.
