Conventional spectrum sensing for cognitive radio assumes the PU is stationary
within the sensing cycle and remains in a constant activity state. A few scenarios
are raised in Chapter 3 where the PU signal may be in fact non-stationary and
change states within a sensing cycle. Some studies have acknowledged this fact
and utilised the activity pattern of the PU to improve areas such as performance
of spectrum sensing [64], sensing optimisation [36], spectrum management [101],
