Contest Brief

I need a design for a mobile phone display (lock) box.
The box will be in the entrance of the house and guests that are visiting for card play or dinner evening should put their phones in the box so it does not interfere while having dinner, chat and play cards OR When teens visit and they want to chat, chill and mingle.

The box must be able to hold 2 or 4 phones, be attractive and clean lines and the phones must be visible at all times.
For the odd couple that will want to run and grab the phone when it rings, a lock can be introduced (must be a very light weight lock - more of a gesture that the phone is now locked away :-))

-> It must NOT look like a punishment
-> It must fit nicely into the house décor of an established upper class household.
-> It MUST look inviting and friendly so you will be willing to trust this thing to safe keep your phone in its tummy for a while.

Somewhere on the front, on the door I suppose, should be a space to fit a small electronic clock to display time (the Size of this clock is about the size of a big wrist watch without strap)

This box should preferably be quite flat against the wall and must be small enough to package and post.

The two images that are attached shows boxes that look to clinical, cold and hard.

The images of the enclosures are all very dated and just by google showcase these designs are typically the ones that shows up.
I need something that is really modern/futuristic. Something that the owner of the phone would be almost proud of putting his phone in.

Hari, I do not really understand your question. It can be one enclosure with one door and then with separate pockets. Phones do not have to be locked separate

  I think he wanted to ask - Do phones have to be isolated totally from outside? Like totally put inside a LOCKED box? Or it can just be a pocket kind of box, where half of the mobile phone is on the outside.

  Allow me copy text from requirements:

  I need the box to appear "safe keeping" the phones. The owner need to ask the "key keeper" permission to get his phone out.
  It is NOT a safe, it’s a gesture: "You are not allowed to use the phone during our social event"
  
  The other risk if not locked: someone might on his way out take a phone that does not belong to him and the owner will want it back from the house owner.
  
  All are friends getting together though, but you should know: opportunity creates the thief: :-)
  
  The concept is similar to the booth you hand in your jacket when you attend a show in the upmarket theater, or when you walk into a house with a jacket and the butler help you to take of your outside coat.

Does this box has to be a closed one or can be an Open one with pockets that can be locked ?(Mobiles will be partially visible)

Your description of the box is correct, but it will not be running around. I will be making more than one that look the same and fit them on a wall and there it will stay. If another person would also like one, another will be made for him.

So, just to check my understanding... This box is going to be running around many different houses, so is should have kind of a neutral look, looking nice and elegant everywhere while never looking out of place anywhere. Did I got it right?
