(First watch the attached video.) Most shaving action is one in which a sharp edge is pointed more or less towards the direction of its shaving movement over the surface. This is true if one uses a knife to sharpen a pencil or to peel an apple. This video demonstrates how a scraper-shaver works in shaving a surface by pointing the sharp 90 degree edge in opposite direction to the direction of the shaving motion. Now imagine the object to be shaved is cold hardened butter, and the scraper-shaver is formed by a rectangular elongated metal bar that has a crooked 90 degree edge (see attached drawing) . As the user presses this bar over the butter and pulls it in opposite direction to the motion of the scraper-shaver, then a 4 strips of butter will be shaved away by each shaving stroke.
A basic design of this butter scraper-shaver is provided herein with rough shape and dimensions. This contest is for the best practical design, which is at the same time elegant in looks, ergonomic and comfortable to be used and can easily be mass produced. The material of construction can either be stainless steel, or colored opaque or colored transparent plastic. The contest award of $60 is guaranteed to be awarded to the best entry at the end of the contest. The winner will be required to provide a STL file for the winning entry.
