Hi, everyone.

I would like to design a book cover for an engineering book. The title of the book is "Life of Steel".
It is about the life cycle of steel from process of extracting iron ore from the ground to the manufacturing processing of iron and steel; to the recycling of steel and many other aspects of steel-making. You could learn more about the book from the attached files for "table of content".

The book would be published in amazon createspace.com, so you have to use the provided template for design.The guideline of the design can be viewed via https://www.createspace.com/Help/Book/Artwork.do.

For more detail regarding the specification of the design could be obtained at https://www.createspace.com/ServicesWorkflow/ResourceDownload.do?id=1583.

The detail properties of the book is listed in attached file "Properties of the book.txt".

I have no expertise in graphic designs at all. It is up to you to show me what great designs should be.

Please Read the file "PleaseReadMe.pdf" very carefully.

!!!!For contests viewing the "PleaseReadMe.pdf", I am truly need the cover design of the book.
Please submit your designs as you see fit. "PleaseReadMe.pdf" is about another project that I am working on too.

thanks for everyone's entry so far. It seems to me, most of design entries seems very gloomy and dark. Could you make the design more upbeat and colorful.
I think the design entry #21 by earthprincess5 show some promises. I am sure you guys can do much better.

CH, there is certain information missing to make proper artwork for your book. 1. How many pages will your book be? (This is important when trying to calculate the spine width) 2. What size publication will you be using? (ie. 6"x 9" or 8" x 10") Just a note: creating artwork that is print ready can be very tedious and there are several things to consider. Please be aware that a contest like this may get you artwork that you like, but it may or may not be usable without knowing all the important specs upfront.
