Contest Brief

Hello, freelancer. We were extremely happy with the results of our previous contest, and thus we'd love to extend a new contest to you talented folk. We need a layout consisting of two (2) pages -- a landing page and an internal page.

To start, the website we are building is called "Otherworlde Academy". It is a fictional university/school and we would like its layout to be similar to the type of layout you see on college websites. The website shall look professional, but still creepy and appropriate for a dark magic academy. For some examples of layout, please view below:

Here are some elements we like from each website:

-- Second bar that has the logo and university title, then dropdown menus for (on our site) About Otherworlde, Admissions, Departments, Student Life, Campus
-- A smaller, secondary bar beneath it with useful links. Could be lorem ipsum.
-- A large section for content beneath it. A large image that can be scrolled through with left or right arrows.
-- Bottom bar that reiterates the logo and title, and lorem ipsum links (would make up a site map)

-- Nice use of top and middle bars conveying logo/name and drop down menus
-- Search bar
-- Large, scrolling center piece for images.
-- Bottom black area for scrolling images
-- Bottom section for information and site map

-- EXCELLENT use of subtle gradients and lines. It looks very visually appealing.
-- Good top menu, good middle menu, good bottom menu.
-- Nice scrolling section for images.
-- Compact news section. Image and title, three most recent.
-- Bottom has site map

Those would be good elements to use for PAGE 1 (landing page).

Now, some more details about our project and specifications:

- The title of the school is Otherworlde. The subtitle is Academy of Dark Arts. If you can't work in the subtitle, just use Otherworlde Academy.

- The academy colors are black and red.

- The academy is dark magic, ritual, magic themed.

- The academy map/grounds is http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/180/9/5/otherworlde_map_by_kossmoe-d55cv01.png You may use it in the design, for example in the background, or in the large scrolling image.

- We have a commercial license to make use of the Arcane Circles here http://www.deviantart.com/art/Arcane-Circles-Symbols-Brushes-63580135 So if you would like to use them to enhance your design, go ahead.

This is the page the user gets when they have logged into the website.It should make use of parts of the element you have designed for the landing page (the two top bars, and the bottommost bar with the site map) but somewhere, likely the middle header, needs to be adjusted to put the user's information. But, of course, you can be creative.

You can see what information we display to the logged in user. It has their avatar (which I believe is 150x150), username, two status bars (one red, one blue), an EXP total, and (not shown) a Gold total.

The content area should be attractive and use lorem ipsum to give us an idea of how it would appear. Please do not make the content area black or a dark color; it's hard to read on that. Looking at the uchicago.edu website is a good example of how to use black and red.
