      As per your requirement

For 2000 users, if each user uploads 8 compressed photos and 2 compressed videos:

      16,000 photos
      4,000 videos
      20,000 total files
      72 GB storage used (approx.)

So 1 TB storage would still have a lot of free space rem
      aining.

      Hello,

Let’s estimate the storage usage step-by-step.

      Assumed compressed file sizes

Average compressed photo ≈ 2 MB

Average compressed video ≈ 50 MB

      Storage used by one user

      Photos:
      8 × 2 MB = 16 MB

      Videos:
      2 × 50 MB = 100 MB

      Total per user:
      16 MB + 100 MB = 116 MB

      Storage for 2000 users

      116 MB × 2000 = 232,000 MB

      Convert to GB:
      232000 ÷ 1024 ≈ 226.5 GB

      Final Result

If each user uploads 8 photos and 2 compressed videos, then 2000 users would require approximately 226 GB of storage.

In real cloud systems, additional storage is also used for thumbnails, metadata, indexing, and backups, which can add around 10–20% overhead.

So the practical requirement would be roughly 250–270 GB total storage for the platform.

Step 1: Define reasonable compressed file sizes

    Typical compressed media sizes:

    Compressed photo: ~2 MB

Compressed video: ~50 MB (short, compressed clip)

    Step 2: Storage per user

    Photos:
    8 photos × 2 MB = 16 MB

    Videos:
    2 videos × 50 MB = 100 MB

    Total per user:
    16 MB + 100 MB = 116 MB per user

Step 3: Total storage for 2000 users

    116 MB × 2000 users = 232,000 MB

    Convert to GB:
    232,000 ÷ 1024 ≈ 226.6 GB

    Convert to TB:
    226.6 ÷ 1024 ≈ 0.22 TB

    Final Result

If each of the 2000 users stores 8 compressed photos and 2 compressed videos, the total storage used would be approximately:

    ≈ 226 GB (about 0.22 TB)

#35 #38 Instead of using fixed assumptions, I built a small Excel model for this problem. Since photo and video file sizes vary depending on resolution, compression, and duration, the sheet allows changing inputs like photo size, video size per minute, duration, and storage allocation. The results update automatically, making the estimation more flexible and practical.

First divide the storage among the users.

    1 TB ≈ 1000 GB ≈ 1,000,000 MB

    Per user storage:

    1,000,000 MB ÷ 2000 users = 500 MB per user

So each user would have about 500 MB of storage on average.

Approximate number of photos/videos per user

This depends on the average file size.

    Typical sizes:

    ? Smartphone photo ≈ 3–5 MB

    ? Short video (30–60 sec) ≈ 40–80 MB

    If users store only photos

    500 MB ÷ 5 MB ≈ 100 photos per user

    If users store only videos

    500 MB ÷ 50 MB ≈ 10 videos per user

    Mixed example

    A realistic mix could be:

    70–90 photos

    5–8 short videos

    per user approximately.

    ✅ Simple summary

    Type Per User

    Storage 500 MB
    Photos only ~100 photos
    Videos only ~10 videos
    Mixed ~80 photos + ~6 videos

? If you want, I can also calculate:

How many total photos/videos fit in 1 TB

Or how much storage you need for 2000 users with unlimited photos/videos.
