Compose a film score for science fiction movie

Contest Brief

Hello,

recently I posted the request online for a film score here on freelancer. In 3 days more than 50 people claimed to make the job and everybody told me that he /she is the best. Impossible for me to choose.

Therefore I decided to make this a contest, as it is hard for me to choose and I want to give a fair chance to everybody who is interested.

Here is how it works :

you compose a 90 sec song for a video-trailer of the science fiction movie. Details of what I need will be below. I will award this with 300 USD for the best score, and for number 2-5 another 50 USD each for the work you spent on it. ( I don't know how this works in this tool, and will guarantee 300 USD now for the winner). The other 4 : trust my word !

After that :

The winner composer gets another job here on freelancer to modify the sound into 8 themes of 150 sec that fit certain situations (like a love scene, battle fight, mysterious and other).

I will pay another 300 USD for that. Ranks 2-5 will get the chance to offer adoptions to for the price of 100 USD for 3 Themes.

Part of the deal is, that I will get full copyright for the songs chosen, but you will be named as composer.

So this is what I am looking for style-wise :

a) Theme : scifi, Space, Space Odysee, People leaving earth to travel into space. Lots of Drama and emotions.

b) style : modern, electro, epic (but please no pure orchestra)

c) melody (there needs to be a melody or theme, that can be repeated and clearly stands out)

Maybe you have something in your portfolio that you can adopt and offer, or you just need a reason to compose something.

Finally I will review and comment every entry, so you can get a bit more close, what I am looking for.

    So, unprofessional and wanting full copyright for a measly $300? I too was working on something (although half heartedly once I realised it's yet another cheap labour gig). At least I know who to avoid in the future.

    I spent the last few days working on a composition for this project knowing that the final submission date was Friday. It would have been nice if potential entrants had been notified of your intention to shorten the deadline via a post on this competition page. Very upsetting and utterly unprofessional. In the sake of fairness, this competition should remain open until the stated final day of submission.

    Whoa, it's over already? I spent the last 2 days composing and figured I still had 3 more days to finish. Today I meant to ask how serious/sad it should be ― how much focus is there on sorrow for the tragedy having to abandon the planet? Or should it not be so profound, like a videogame?

    Hi Steve, sorry to bother you but there are 4 more days left for the contest to end. Anyhow, I had uploaded my track about a week back & got your comment 2 days earlier that the Sound cloud link was not working. I immediately uploaded the mp3 on dropbox & had sent you the link. I had put a lot of efforts on making the track and have been accessing my entry over 100 times a day only to check if you had left any comment.       Thanks for submitting. The first song (game) is too flat and does not develop. Scnd song the flute is too much ehtno based music, later on gets better but misses the chance to become epic, modern an give it a punch at the end. IF you submit it into the contest would give it 3+ Stars. Thanks for hanging in !

    Listen to The Positive Hour Score for an example of something that might be appropriate, and the Antigone Theme for an example of some sweeping film music. Let me know if you want something similar!

      thanks for reaching out, The them for antigone is nice. Like it, question how do we put it into space with some beats, some drama devopment (at the moment it is nice for using it for a rainy sad day film) it also needs to carry happy and heave :-)) Thanks Steve
