Create a Saving / Goal Tracker App (Gamified)

Contest Brief

The TipsGO Framework ([login to view URL]) provides a complete range of APIs that allow you to build Personal Financial Management (PFM) tools such as Financial Calculators. An example of this is a Saving Tracker (also known as Goal tracker as it allows you to track how well you are progressing towards achieving your goal). The Saving Tracker can be used by a user to track how well they are progressing towards achieving their Saving Goals. A Savings Goal can be something like Go on holiday or Buy a new iPad etc.

A Saving Tracker can be useful for many different scenarios or users. For example, an adult may use it for tracking their progress towards achieving the lifestyle goals such as buying a car or going on holidays.

Similarly, kids can use the Saving Tracker to track when they can get their favorite toy by saving the pocket money and other money they receive as gifts or payments for chores they do.

Of course, there are a number of factors that will determine how much money a person can save and how much time it will take to save that money. Some of these include:

How often they earn and save
How much they save
How long they will save for
How much interest they can earn from savings

When you factor all of the above there are a few things we need to track and it can get quite complex. This is where the TipsGO APIs can be very useful, because the APIs encompass all the logic to track the earnings and savings and provide you a really simple interface to access them.

Your Challenge is to:

** Design the coolest Savings / Goal Tracking App using the TipsGO APIs
** Make it fun to use it
** Submit working app with source code and design for evaluation

Your Task
========

Your task is to achieve what is outlined in the previous page!!

You may build it using any of the below technologies / platforms:
1. iOS or
2. Android

The App must use the TipsGO APIs

To qualify for the prize money, you need to meet the following criteria:

-- Design a cool name and logo for the App
-- Design a cool user experience that the users will love (UX)
-- Design a nice, smooth appealing user interface (UI)
-- Have a working App that can be easily installed and run
-- The App is bug free

** The submission will be judged based on the quality & usability of the app.

** If you charge for the app in the Play Store / App Store, you get to keep all the earnings.

Hi Contest Holder, congratulations to have a great product. I would like to make you an offer of my app too in a very reasonably small price if you liked it. It would be better to have two rather than one. Thank you!

I am unable to get the list of all goals that i have created so far...server returns "TotalRecord":0, "ListOfObjects":[0], status : "000000". I am using 'GET' method with headers "AppId" : "BucXXXxxx" , "DeviceId":"911XXXXXXXXXXX", "InstallationID":"AfwtWyGRP2CttcDNrvnXXXXXXXXXXXXX", "Accept":"Application/json", "Authorization":"Bearer kEASxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx". I am getting the list of all wallets that i have created so far with the same headers in my app and it is working fine there. Is there any header missing here? I am quite sure that i have created many Goals with same installation id because i got "Status" : "000000" and "message" : "Request completed successfully. " every time i invoked the API call to create a new goal.

If everybody would stop complaining about the time frame "check your emails more freq... you would have seen this contest." or the money $500 is not enough - dont like the amount dont enter then - or that the contest should be split into programming and UI.... - "this contest took me 10 hours to complete - programming and graphics" - if you know what your doing - we are freelancers - - we must be able to do both -... its a very small effective api.... and has documentation - for what the OP is asking for....

I have to say - Thank-you to the OP for taking out the marketing section of the contest and to alexcoop for pointing out that it takes a minimum of 10 days actually and with the possibility of app store rejecting... come on guys - this is the clarification board - not the contest complaints department...

Thanks for the feedback team. I think this is very useful. So, do you think I should break up the competition into two parts (1) UI design and (2) Development? If so, how much time should we allocate to do a good design? or should I do the design and have the competition only for the development? I would love to have your feedback so that we can scope the competition appropriately.

I honestly feel you are not doing the app developers justice. You should at least show some minimum effort in owning the product you want developed. In my opinion, you should first note ua app idea down, then run a contest for graphic designers to generate app screen design ideas and logo for u. After u get a nice design and logo, look for an android developer to implement the desired design. This way, your work will be done in a more professional and articulate manner and believe me, you will appreciate the final results. Most android developers are programmers not designers. Very few can combine both with impressive results.

Hello, OP. I just now saw your contest and am very interested in joining in, but I do not believe the 4 remaining days are enough time. Also, I don't agree with the requirement of needing to put it in the App Store. Why would you want me, or any contestant, to submit our work under our own developer account? Developing the app is worth the prize, but submitting the app and being expected to gather users is not. Developing the app takes time. 3 days minimum. Probably much more. But getting it into the App Store takes a minimum or 6 days and that's assuming you don't get rejected, which 7 out of 10 apps do for various reasons.

My request to you is to change the requirements to only a full UI and a functional application with a brilliant UX. Anything additional does not make the contest worth it for only $500, unless you're willing to sacrifice quality. Standard developer rate is $30/hour. Clearly no one is asking for that here, but please just use that as a reference in comparison to what you are asking of us. Thanks. I'll get back to you with a concept soon.

Dear all, it is great to see many interesting entries flowing in over the weekend. We are now onto the last week of the competition. One of the important judging criteria for the competition is that you create a working app that is fully functional and ready for putting into the App Store / Play Sore. I also encourage you to contact us if you have any queries. Good luck everyone.

"Get as many users using the app". This is not a developers work. Look for a marketer for that. Developers are pretty busy people.
