Create a wxPython class to get more projects

Contest Brief

This small project is a test for working in the full system. The system is a framework to simplify control and visualization of sensor data. I expect to offer the winner much more related Python work in algorithms, data processing and visualization.

wx.TreeCtrl is a widget that shows a tree that the user can expand and collapse. Extend the wx.TreeCtrl class to automatically populate the tree and react to changes to a data model.

Build upon the given framework code. When your solution is in use, subclasses of TreeNode will provide the structure to be visualized.

Only query for the children of a node when necessary. Use established coding practices and follow the code conventions in the existing code. Be mindful that you create a library class. In particular, good documentation is important. You're also encouraged to make notes of potential problems and future improvements.

UPDATE: PDF submissions are now accepted. This is easier for me to read than images. Current entries don't need to resubmit, however.

UPDATE: The contest has been extended but I do have a winner in mind. If you still want to submit an entry, know that it must be exceptionally good at this point...

One day to go! There's still a chance for a good entry to sweep in and win.

Half the contest time has passed! Thanks for the submissions so far. Although I don't give feedback during the contest, I do read all the code. The contest won't be settled until it runs out of time so I do welcome more participants!

I will not grade or give comments to entries during the contest as I want to see what competitors produce without extra input.

Apparently entries can only be submitted as pictures. I hope all text will be legible, otherwise I have to arrange something else.
