Create an engaging character for my book 'How to Think for Yourself'

Contest Brief

I've written a book called 'How to Think for Yourself', which I will publish as an ebook and as a physical book.
I will need a book cover and approx 24 illustrations
The book is based on some serious philosophy but it is short and clearly written: the key idea is that everyone can think for themselves and if you don't, other people will think for you.
I particularly want to engage older teens and young adults in the 16-30 age range.
The book doesn't "need" illustrations but when done well they will engage the reader's emotions and draw them in. They will use humour to make the reader smile and defuse tensions over topics that have become so polarised in our world (politics, the environment, economics and education). They will also make some ideas easier to understand, in particular the differences between the three kinds of thinking: Objective thinking (in which the emotions and personality of the thinker are not engaged), Subjective thinking (in which the emotions and personality of the thinker are fully engaged), and Intersubjective thinking (the thinking which happens while you really connect with another person).

There will be a recurring character - one who thinks for themselves, and is our 'everyman'; with whom the reader identifies through the book. This character embodies determination, courage, curiosity, humour, lightness of touch, engagingness, kindness, an ability to connect with others while not being overwhelmed, and
Isn’t aggressive, provocative, or unpleasant in any way.
They are cool and appealing without being arrogant, self-satisfied, smarmy. It's really important that 'gen z' readers, both female and male, can relate to the character while at the same time older readers are not put off.
Ie not childish, too whimsical, sci-fi nerdish, geeky. Could be anime style?
I've thought of a 'cool sheep' in shades doing his own thing while the herd are huddled together looking miserable but that could look too much like gloating.

The contest is for one illustration, either for the book cover or one of the images inside the book.

Eg: "I humbly suggest we can all create a space in our lives for deeper thinking: by going on a long walk or turning off social media and sitting by the fire on a winter’s night. Ask yourself, what if anything can I be totally sure of? Question the awareness you have: the process of thinking that happens whether you want it to or not. Is it purely passive or can you be active? Are you only a purely passive observer of life or do you have agency: is there something in you that can make decisions and choose to do things?
What are you most sure of: is the mysterious sense you have of your ‘Self’ something that can act?
It may be that you have a sense that you very rarely act: nearly all of the big decisions of your life have been made very passively, by following the flow of expectation of those around you. The ability to act may be largely embryonic, hardly developed. But can you really deny that it is there altogether?
Thinking for yourself is only possible if you have agency.
You may come to me and argue that agency is an illusion: that although we may have a sense of action the reality is that everything we think and do is behaviourally determined: free will is just an illusion. But I will notice that your very argument is evidence of your agency. You are acting to try and persuade me to change my thinking!
[image - character under the stars, deciding that they are alive and do have agency, making key decisions for their lives]

I may engage the winner to do all 24 illustrations and the cover for the book. To be honest, I have not run a contest like this before and I am testing the water. I will need some one who 'gets' the message of the book and can add value visually.

I am attaching the introduction, contents and 2 chapters of the book to show its style . Unauthorised copying or distribution is strictly forbidden.

Thank you for your interest!

I'm not a native English speaker. I try to read your writing. Your msg is good. As a ordinary reader I want to mention about your introduction 2nd para where you wrote a line, 'If schools and universities taught'. I don't understand why you use here past tense.
