Contest Brief
Background
We are a provider of off-grid solar systems for remote areas in the Middle East & Africa and are looking for the design for our next-generation container system, packing a maximum of solar power into a modular, transportable, scalable & robust system using standardized and widely available components
Overall design objective
Design a containerized solar racking structure that allows the rapid manufacturing, shipping & setup of a solar plant small to medium-sized solar plant anywhere in the Middle East / Central Asia / Africa in <90 days. The system needs to robust & flexible enough to be set up and dismantled regularly with unskilled labor and without heavy equipment. Smart design should minimize
a) The cost of the structure
b) The installation labor required
Deadlines
- Concept design by June 7th
Deliverables
1. 3D design model (editable CAD files) in a common design software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.). Please show the fully assembled state
2. All required static and wind load calculations for the design (complete array installation including container) at for 130 km/h (36 m/s)
3. Estimate of weight of the structure (excluding container & solar modules) split by structure & additional ballast and by material (e.g. steel vs. aluminium)
