Contest Brief

Hello designers! We are looking for a well designed, modern and responsive header for our shopping portal "liquidate warehouse". We've resorted to a full width design without a side bar in an effort to provide our visitors with the maximum of what they've come to see, products. For this reason, we are in need of innovative, clever and creative ideas for the placement of the navigational elements. Please have a look at http://www.storenvy.com. Please do not clone this, it is just an example.

All we need is a photoshop file in the end, leave the css up to us. We leave the design completely to your imagination. All we have is a selection of elements and just a rough color pallet. We would like the design to look and feel light, friendly, modern and warm. You may use a light weight pattern for the background as well if you wish. Its totally up to you. We've provided a screen shot of our current development version. This is by no means to orientate you concerning design, but rather to show you the elements. What we would like to keep intact is the search within category which is similar to amazon.

Content width: 950px

Colors:

Blue as in life and water for our primary color.
And Green as in life and growth for our secondary color.

You may choose the shades of these colors as you wish. Further colors should fit well into the overall scheme.

Thanks for the new entries! #39 Very nice! We like it allot. We're wondering if you could go a bit more organic instead of gloss on the buttons? Do you understand what I mean with that? And maybe a bit more work on the shadows for the filter drop downs? The drop shadows (or gradient) make them look like they are receded into the page, as if they where text fields. We feel they would look better "on top". We would also like to see the "All Categories" drop down on the left of the search bar. Lastly, We believe the pattern strip under the category bar may take more space than is beneficial as a design element. Maybe you could show us how it looks without it? And if you like, please dont hesitate to put some effort in refining what you have.

We think #39 has hit the mark the closest so far. We would love to see more in this direction. If you look at our top rated, they all have in common that the logo looks native to the rest of the design.

  You can continue to refine what you have if you wish. Maybe check out dribbble and get some ideas on different techniques for creating buttons and other ui elements. Although we love your layout and idea, we still would have to do such refining ourselves. Dribble is a great resource with many experienced artists and good ideas. Otherwise please feel free to post your latest drafts to the contest.

We are not looking for a clone of this site! This is just and example of the kind of elegant simplicity we are looking for. We want our filters to fit nicely horizontally in the header.
