Design a Logo!

Contest Brief

Thanks for your interest in my project. We are looking for top designers so even if you don't win, you might be invited to do other work.

Name = Queen Pelican (main logo), by line = Cleaning Services. Will offer future products and services such as hand made soap, cleaning products, so logo has to be able to accommodate that so I think it is best to focus on the main name and design the logo where we can place "Cleaning Services," "Hand Made Soap," "Cleaning products" as it suits our needs.

Before starting the design process please especially pay close attention to the sample file "Upkeep Charlie" This is what we are shooting for. This style. Nothing cheesy please.

I have a mascot (the pelican) which needs to be revised for the final design. I don't want it to look cartoonist, but refined like the logos in the sample. I would prefer a different crown on the pelican and different hair. (Illustrator file provided)

The design needs to be illustrated and designed into a mascot logo. I need two versions of the final design, one I can use with the mascot and one I can used with the text version only. See sample "Upkeep Charlie" logo to understand. You will see a full logo with mascot and then you will see a watered down version of the same logo but without the mascot.

You need to be an expert in Illustrator because the final design has to be an illustrator file.

Any of the colors in the sample file would be a good start: orange, blue, green, turquoise, dark blue. blue, or a color combinations, but use your own creativity, we are looking forward to seeing your ideas. I will answer any questions you might have.

Please don't take the original pelican and use it in the design without modifying it. Want it to have bold lines like in the samples. The main purpose here is to change it's look to something that is more refined and graphic. If you follow all of the things I've mentioned and your final design has the same look and feel as the designs presented in the sample file you should have no problem WINNING this contest.

I am giving you a Illustrator file of the Pelican to make things easier. It doesn't have a crown and needs additional work. Should be relatively minor, but at least this file will give you a head start. I'd like a different crown.

Update. PLEASE READ THE BRIEF CAREFULLY AND VIEW THE SAMPLES. Before submitting ask yourself "does my design reflect what was stated in the brief or the samples provided? " Do not completely deviate from the original pelican. Please don't send clip art. Kindly, do not ask for feed-back if you have not read the brief and analyzed the samples.

Your efforts did not go unnoticed even if you didn't get star ratings. I had to choose the design that gave me what I asked for.     Just wanted to thank all of you for your hard work. Some of your designs have really improved. Just remember– if you follow all of my feed-back, briefs etc... to a tee you should have a problem winning. One last clue that I have stressed. Important elements of this design #1 the pelican (has to look friendly and nice #2 the type #3 the crest. If I haven't given any of you feed-back please send a personal message.

    Backgrounds that are working and look nice: Blues & orange, yellows, beiges (not dark) and orange. Solid blacks are not working.

    #44 your lines are perfect don't change it like you said you would. I am more concern about the pelican's face. You might want to redesign the crown.

    The right crest design has to pull the entire design together. A weak crest will make a nice pelican go down hill. Here are some samples I have pulled together or strong crest designs. The Jaguar being really strong on illustration and type design. I hope you are all using a vector program (Illustrator) as requested. Jacksonville Jaguars

      I don't like the grass in this logo but I like the type, it is bold and strong. Looks customized. You could easier put "cleaning service on the bottom and this design would be strong without the mascot.

    #30 solid design but the colors are too masculine. Not too bright and happy. There is some white space under the "P" that stands out. My eyes are directed towards that. Your break out pieces aren't as strong as your illustration. Remember when I am not using the logo with the pelican, the second design has to speak on its own, should be as creative just not with the pelican. Thanks for following directions.

    #28 line work / illustration skills are nice,It looks customized. make sure you read my comments about the Pelican. I like how you too the pelican in the sample as an inspiration and let me have your take on the design. It's really nice to see the full pelican how it would look without the actual design. But keep in mind that entire design isn't about the pelican alone. The design has be all be in sync, one design like the sample. Thanks for the break out design.

    Only a small percentage of designers have given me break out version of the logo WITHOUT the pelican. This one should be as eye catching as the original. Should be like sample I mentioned in the brief. check sample page again. "Queen Pelican" type should not complete with the pelican, all should blend in the design.

    I am trying to go through all of the designs and give you feed-back. Here are some things to keep in mind. 1) No bubbles 2) Make sure the design comes together and looks like one fluid logo not pieces pasted together. 3) The pelican is a she not a he, a queen not a king so if you are going to redesign, have to keep that in mind. 4) The pelican should look happy or pleasant, should look like she had a bad day. 5) Nothing cartoony 6) No bold black lines. Remember that design has a hierarchy of focus. My eyes should be drawn to dark lines or something not as important as the "Queen"

    Thanks everyone for your designs. Designers please don't ask for feed-back unless you have at least attempted to design according to my wishes stated specially in the brief. The design should be a vector file. I have given you a good start by uploading the file of the bird but many have ignored it. The designs have to be according to my requirement. The samples are a good guide line of the style I am looking for. Do that and I will be very happy.

    Queen Pelican = name of the business, we are a cleaning service that can be in a by line. Will offer hand made soaps, and sell other services and products in the future so logo should be as such where we can easier make those adjustments in the future. I.E. Queen Pelican Natural Soap, Queen Pelican window cleaning solution….
