Contest Brief

This contest is for a logo and four labels for four different types of bottled beers listed below utilizing the logo.

The Serda Brewing Co. is a new production brewery opening in Mobile, AL late 2014. We want to be the Corona of the craft beer market. Mobile is located next to Mobile Bay, the Delta, many rivers and the Gulf of Mexico. Boating, fishing and going to the beach is our lifestyle and we want an image that captures this lifestyle. We want to be the beer people put in their Yetti coolers while they are wearing their Colombia fishing shirt and Costa Del Mar sunglasses driving around in their trucks with a Salt Life bumper sticker trailering their Contender center console fishing boat. I want a logo that captures this gulf coast lifestyle that is instantly recognizable from a distance along with labels for our bottles. We will launch with four year long beers that are tentatively named Hook & Line Lager, Tidewater IPA, Clear Prop Porter (the prop of a boat motor, not airplane) and White Water Wheat. We will also have three seasonal beers along with a selection of beers only available in the taproom. These names are not set in stone and can be changed. I want the image to be consistent throughout the entire line of beers and also throughout our merchandise, i.e. t-shirts, koozies, bottle openers, etc.

The images included are some things that have stuck out to us.

1) The image below with "Bluefish" on it is a picture of a real boat named Bluefish that was docked at a marina. I liked the way it was written because if this were a logo it would be the name and the logo in one. Good logos are instantly recognized without the name but a logo that is also the name like Coca-Cola, FedEx and Salt Life are even better. I also liked that is was on the back of a boat.

2.) The images for the Swamp Head Brewery did a great job depicting the environment in Florida and I like the consistency among the line.

3.) The image of the Contender fishing boat is the typical recreational fishing boat in our area.

This is the first time I have ever used Freelancer.com and I am unfamiliar with the quality of work. Sailboats are nice but they are not big in our area. Please consider recreational fishing boats like the Contender image included in the description and fish like groupers, marlins, tuna and red snapper instead if you were going to use a sailboat in a design.

  I am open to modern or vintage. I really like Great Divide Brewery and Swamp Head Brewery. Many breweries do a bad job maintaining consistency among their image and make it hard to determine the name of the beer and who it is brewed by. These two breweries do a good job in branding and making the type and/or name of the beer easy to see.
