Contest Brief

We are looking for a possible in house designer. Someone that would like to work with us for each book that we do. We have a typeface that we'd like to use for our logo called Ginga by Billy Argel, but we are open to anything that strikes us. We are looking for something dark and gritty, yet very modern. Feel free to stick to what we give you as well as dazzle us with something that perhaps we have not even though of.

The logo needs to read "DeVour (or deVour) Magazine."

Just to give you a bit of info on us:

deVour thrives off of the blood, sweat and guts of artistic souls. To provoke emotion. We want the reader to be swallowed into a land of dark artistic imagery and sound. Our heart beats for the unusual and ugly. It is within this simple yet raw, bare all vision, that we hope to leave a lasting impression on our readers. deVour is where you go to be consumed by raw emotions, musical talent and the intense passion for dark beauty.

We need someone that understands that our aesthetic is dark, but will not provide us something cookie cutter goth. We are very upscale. Our inspiration stems from Music, Art and Fashion: Theirry Mugler, Rick Owens, Fever Ray, Front Line Assembly, Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, Depeche Mode, HR Giger and more. The cash prize is low. We are a startup, but we already have quite the buzz going on and we will be nationally distributed. We are looking for more than just logo design in the long run. We would also like someone capable of website design as well as publication design, but it is not mandatory.

We cannot guarantee there will be a winner unless we are absolutely floored. If we decide on your design, you will be paid for it. We wish you all the best and look forward to seeing what talent exits in this realm.

  The readability is an issue. I like the concept, but it will look too digital when corrected, so please try something else.

Hi there!

I just would like to know your target market for this magazine? Or, if ever there's a specific niche because I may have been wrong or mislead as to what the direction of logo should be. Knowing such would be a great help for me in understanding the branding of this magazine.
