Design a Logo for a Writers' Group program

Contest Brief

The logo is for a Writers' Groups program that incorporates groups for young adults (12-18) and for Seniors (+55). The name of the program is: 'The Write Story', so the groups will be advertised as "The Write Story' for Young Adults or 'The Write Story' for Seniors. The logo will be used on print-based marketing materials such as flyers, business cards, newspaper ads, and in emails and on websites, so it needs to be high resolution.

I'd like a modern touch on the traditional representation of writer. The quill style pen doesn't work for me. A pencil/pen is good, but so is technology. If both can be combined that would be great. Black and white doesn't work either. The logo will used on advertising material in schools as well as in general. It needs to be eye catching and attractive.
