Contest Brief

Hi!

Who we are:
We are Feather Labs, a start-up focused on developing cutting edge hardware solutions in the domain of smart devices & home automation commonly referred as - ‘Internet of Things’.

What are we looking for:
Your help in creating our logo which will shape our corporate identity. We will use the logo on our products, online presence, marketing communications etc. We expect our logo to be easily recognizable and symbolize intelligence & coolness.

Logo style and form:
The symbol and the overall logo should be minimalist & modern.
We want the logo for our company - ‘feather labs’. Ideally, we would prefer designs which leverage the visual representation of a bird feather. The feather can be a standalone entity (like Flipboard) or can be merged with the character ‘f’ for our company name feather labs (as we tried to do for our existing logo).
We plan to use combination of the word feather in our product line (feather labs, Smart Feathers etc.) with focus on the word feather. In certain cases, we will only use the symbol to signify association with Feather Labs. For e.g., a shoe with the symbol should signify that it has 'smartness' and automation.

Color:
We have explored designs with red (http://0to255.com/e91806) and blue (http://0to255.com/42c7f3) but feel free to use the palette you think will be appropriate.

Important:
1. The logo must have a symbolic icon.
2. Minimal and intelligent designs are a plus.
3. All vector files must be delivered.
4. We must not have any limitation on usage of the fonts/ designs!

Please take this brief as a broad suggestion and feel free to get creative in any direction you want.
We understand that this is an iterative process and will be happy to answer any question and take suggestions!

Additional Clarifications:
1. 'Internet of Things' is a broad descriptor for the domain where we intend to operate. However, we don't plan to use this phrase in our logo.
2. It's not important to include the labs in the symbol (beaker, test-tubes) etc. as we will use various combinations of the word feather for our products (Smart Feathers, Feather Prime etc.)
