Contest Brief

I'm starting an ecommerce website that is design and art focused called If By Sea. The logo should be primarily just the name in some sort of interesting and/or beautiful layout/font. I'm not saying don't add any sort of graphic flourishes on top of it, but perhaps lean towards minimalism vs. a bunch of images.

The layout/font will need to be distinctive and memorable. I'm looking for something that will encompass a couple (though not all) of the following qualities:

Unique, beautiful, haunting, eccentric, peculiar or modern.

If By Sea has a slight leaning towards a nautical theme, but feel free to not include anything nautical related if it restrains you too much.

Please no gradients, bubble letters, complex design (lots of lines) or shadows. If possible I would like the logo in both vector and rasterized formats with a transparent background.

Good day, Sir. Can you possibly narrow down your logo preferences? i've been seeing a lot of cliparts from a lot of the entries. Would you want a logo in black and white rendition, an oldstyle rendition of familiar nautical symbols like an anchor, galleon ship, lifesavers, sea gulls, etc? Thank you.

May I ask why "If By Sea"? Is all the artwork/products related to sea? and also the age range of your target market.

  Age range is probably skewed more towards 30's-50's. Not sure yet, though, to be honest.
