Contest Brief

I am starting a pirate themed food blog (PirateEats.com) and am looking for a logo to be the design anchor for the site. I'll use the logo to help steer the color scheme and general look & feel. I would like two logos, one of maybe a close up pirate head (think headshot) and then maybe a full body pirate with the same or similar head. I'm open to other pirate related logos as well (ex. swords, jolly roger flag, etc). Vector based would be great for future logo resizing and optional “PirateEats.com” text is a plus but I'm mainly focused on the image quality. Given I don't have any colors for the website, being able to delete the background layer would give me maximum flexibility but that shouldn't be an issue if it's vector based and I get a copy of the master files. Having sad that, I require the original photoshop/illustrator/vector files.

About the site, the concept is plundering recipes from other websites and making them my own (changing the ingredients, adding my own commentary, etc). It will be done in wordpress and I'll give linkbacks / credit to the originating site. Generally, I'd just categorize it as fun and playful, so I'm looking for the logo to represent that.

While this site will be mainly for personal use, the work created must be original and you agree to transfer ownership of all logo rights to myself in exchange for the prize. In turn, I'll grant a limited license to you to republish the logo for the purposes of testimony and promotion related to your logo design services.

  Sarcasm doesn't translate well on the internet, so I'm not sure if your question is serious or not. I realize I'm asking a lot as those are really high production value pirate cartoons. That's why a kitchenesque play on skull and cross bones may work as well (I like "wavyline's entry for example). I threw the pirate cartoon examples out there in case anyone likes to draw pirates and had one sitting around that could be put to good use in a logo. In terms of ships and parrots, they are great, just looking for a high production value and for them to lien on the playful / fun side of things. Thanks for your interest!
