Contest Brief
A logo for an independent teaching and learning community platform. The site and an introductory video can be seen at http://profr.org (currently a holding page). I'm looking for something creative, clean and stylish. Nothing childish or cartoony. The logo should include the word "Profr" and sit well on the site's header bar much as the current temporary logo does. Needs to work against a range of background colors. But be particularly striking against a black or dark grey background. The relevant client groups are shown in the video. The logo needs to appeal to all three target client groups: 1. students/independent learners/clients; 2. Independent Teachers, Tutors and Instructors; and, 3. Schools, further education and adult learning centers, language schools and tutoring centers.

A bit of playfulness wouldn't go amiss either. The site has a fun kind of feel. Think about the more playful side of education - paper airplanes/darts, chalky mess etc.

Some element of the logo will also need to work as an icon for things like app icons and favicon. That could be just the P or a motif that works well square. Facebook uses it's F to that effect - Freelancer.com uses it's hummingbird. Hope that makes sense.

21 and 19 - don't feel particularly fresh to me. This is a modern and fresh new platform and the mortarboard/owl/pen motif on several here feel a little old hat (forgive the pun) obvious and clip-arty to me. 28 is the most interesting to me so far but colouring both the F and R makes me think france/french. Colouring only the R and the fullstop might work better. Qomar and Mthomasser are somewhat on the right lines, but I still think we need something subtly more interesting.

To reiterate: clean, stylish, must work well on a horizontal page navigation bar which is black or dark grey. Visit profr.org and scroll down to see what I mean.

Plus - the site is called Profr. The strapline is: "A platform for independent teaching and learning" - although this does not need to be a part of the design/logo. Really the only necessary text is the word Profr. - with or with the fullstop. Some kind of graphic at the start, or around the P might be interesting.

Working out from the Google webfont ' Fredericka the Great' might be a good idea for the text part of the logo, as it it evokes chalk on a board.
