Contest Brief

Our organization is the I-10 Corridor Association. We are group of cities and Chambers of Commerce in Central Texas that pool our resources to encourage economic development and tourism in the region. Our current logo can be found at http://www.i10corridor.org/ features an outline of Texas with a road trailing out from it into an Interstate 10 highway sign. The concern and feed back we have is that the sign denotes transportation more than it does development or tourism. We are also renaming the organization from "The I-10 Corridor Association" to "The Central Texas I-10 Community Alliance". Another concern is that not all of our communities are located directly off of I-10, many are off of another major highway that is connected to I-10 (see "Interactive map on our website). What we all have in common is that we are off of the beaten path. We tend to be "in the middle of nowhere" and yet be "close to everything" because we are centrally located between Austin, Houston, San Antonio and Victoria. We are concerned that losing the I-10 logo all together would be negative since the I-10 sign is immediately recognizable and a big part of our regional attraction. One logo/slogan concept we have had is the "just a little off" slogan paired with a logo that depicts Texas and a cafe-style sign with and arrow pointing towards or away from an Interstate 10 sign. I have attached a pdf of prior logo considerations, the one we have today was the one selected from this group several years ago. I have also attached photos of interstate signs and "cafe style" signs do give you a visual of the major components. Use your imagination! What speaks "Central Texas I-10 Community Alliance?" to you! ... The submitted logo should contain a minimum of three elements: the shape of Texas, the Interstate 10 sign, and an arrow. It needs to scream tourism NOT corporation, business or association. A majority of the logos submitted would be fine for a services business, I need something that will attract interest from passersby...

Thank you all for your submissions! This is my first time using the site, so bear with me...! I have posted additional pictures for your reference. I like the "Pops Diner" sign shape with the circle and curved downward arrow. I also like the Texas silhouette with the Texas Flag colors (not sure how this will mesh with the old style diner look). The must haves are the I-10 Sign, the State of Texas Silhouette and the cafe-style sign that should read "Just a little Off" The Interstate sign needs to be less prominent that the cafe sign. sort of in the background but recognizable. The cafe style sign should be located so that it appears to be pointing "just off" I-10. Please keep in mind, we are located in South-Central Texas (between San Antonio and Houston).
