We require a logo design for an exciting new and upcoming not-for-profit organisation in the food innovation and public advocacy space called ‘Food Frontier’. It’s an institute that aims to increase public awareness and work with government and industry to accelerate the growth of new plant-based and ‘clean’ alternatives to conventional meat, egg and dairy in Australia and the Asia-Pacific. Our vision is a world where what we eat is healthy, humane and sustainable.
By increasing the consumption of these new alternatives people will reduce consumption of conventional animal-based products, subsequently alleviating the impacts of animal agriculture including:
- Human Health: Health issues associated with excessive animal-based product consumption include elevated rates of chronic disease (e.g., heart disease and cancer) and obesity, the overuse of antibiotics in farm animals that could lead to a post-antibiotics world, and tens of millions of illnesses annually from meat contaminated with dangerous pathogens.
- The Environment: United Nations scientists state that raising animals for food is “one of the major causes of the world's most pressing environmental problems, including global warming, land degradation, air and water pollution, and loss of biodiversity.”
- Global Hunger: Growing crops to feed them to farm animals is vastly inefficient, driving up the price of grains and legumes, and entrenching global poverty; to produce enough food for more than 9.7 billion people by 2050, we will need a more efficient system.
- Animal Welfare: Meat, dairy and egg production is the greatest source of human-inflicted animal suffering globally. The vast majority of the 70 billion animals raised and slaughtered for food each year are incarcerated in intensive factory farms without any legal protection from cruelty, and anywhere from 1-2 trillion fish are extracted from the world’s oceans annually.
