Contest Brief
This is my personal blog. I have tried smashing together a few stock images, but we all know how that goes. I am a web developer by trade and my skill-set will allow me to build the site, so all I really need is a nice mockup/design that I can use to skin it. IE The deliverables can just be some PSD/AI files I can use to get things going.
The site will have three main sections:
blog - just posts with text and images, nothing special
projects - a list of various things I have/am working on
appearances/talks - I like to speak at conferences and do workshops, so this section is a collection of blocks that have the title of the talk/workshop and then a list of files/links, for later reference by the participants.
For the look and feel, I am looking for vector art with a cartoony kind of look. It should be a night scene, which a moon in the sky, stars in the background, and mountains with a house/cabin at the bottom. I have attached my crappy sketchup and a screenshot of my current attempt for reference. Basically a star filled sky with a moon, with a nice nighttime desert-mountain scene at the bottom. The idea is that it is a cartoony representation of what I see.experience at nice in my home in Tucson, AZ.
I have also attached my favorite avatar I use on basically every social outlet. I love it and would love to see it incorporated in the header. I also want the word "BusyRich" to be somewhere in the header. It should be in the same vector art style, but you can add it as part of the avatar if you think that looks good. What I envision is the avatar with "Busyrich" in front of it.
Most of all it should be easy to read the text, and it should be fun and inviting. Also, my favorite colors are purple and blue, although I am not sold that those would fit very well with a nighttime desert scene. I suppose that is your call though. :)
