Dear contest holder. Your icon will have to be 1024x1024, or an Illustrator vector for rescaling.
Apple iPhone no longer accepts the former size 512x512 - new retina display rules.
You are kindly advised to update your brief with this info, in order to avoid having the winner being forced to redesign the icon in the correct size.

It is supposed to be in PNG format. Also, I think you will need 1024x1024 as the largest size for App icon
