Contest Brief

We are looking to build a new eco-home on a sloping site in England and would like some concept drawings to see what would be possible on the site.
The property should be suitable for an ageing/ elderly couple and have space for two visiting young families.
Sustainability and a connection to the surrounding countryside should be celebrated in the design.
The main garden area is further down at the bottom of the slope, but the design should include some outdoor space for sitting/ eating and growing easily accessible from the house.
I would anticipate the main bedroom being on the same level as the kitchen and living areas - to that end the site seems ideal for bedrooms on a lower floor but we are open to all ideas.
The plot faces north and east so getting light into the property will be a key concern. There is slope and hedging/trees to the south and woodland to the west.
The plot is approx 10-12m deep with the slope and approx 30m running along the slope. There has been some slight terracing added to the area. There is a drop of approx 3.5m from the top to the bottom of the plot. The property need only be of modest proportions. The two photographs attached are facing towards the east.
Access could be drawn from the hedge line below the plot or there is access above the plot. There is a v quiet road running behind the hedge edging the plot.
On the aerial shot the whole plot is lined in red with the area for development lined in green. North is to the top of the shot. The existing cottage will probably have to be demolished to gain planning permission.
Ideas that we like but are not wedded to include: balconies, a green roof, being built into the slope, a roof terrace, a conservatory, large windows/ glass wall, and easy to maintain natural materials.

Hi. I await the impressions on my delivery. I had other questions to ask him about the lump and the materials that could be available for the construction of the house. Since the essence of ecological architecture is the use of. indigenous materials and integration with the environment. It would be very helpful to receive that information to improve the proposal.

Hi. It is important to know that you are looking for exactly when referring to an ecological house. Since an ecological house is defined by many aspects such as environmental materials, the use of lighting and natural heating. In addition to other processes involving the development of an ecological home. It would be important to know exactly where the winds come from in your region. The sunny is also important. These data are very important to guide the house and take advantage of the benefits of natural elements and counteract their incidence in summer and winter. Are you going to build your or builders? Since there are constructive techniques with land such as the tapial and clay bricks. Other techniques for enclosures such as wooden frames. All this information I intend to make it arrive in a construction manual to facilitate the understanding of the constructive technique. Being an ecological house in its operation, structure and construction. But aesthetically modern and natural.

Hi! Since there are no architectural or site plans, are you expecting a complete design or a concept design to adjust later with a builder/architect near the location? Lovely contest by the way!

It is a concept design that I am interested in - to see what could be done on such a slope and with natural light being limited by the aspect. I need something practical for the UK climate, sustainable to build and run - and suitable for older inhabitants.
