Glass Wedding Chapel Concept Design and 3D Render

Contest Brief

We require an architect or creative person skilled in 3D building design and rendering, to create an initial concept for a small glass wedding chapel. This building will cater for no more then 30 people and have a simple yet intimate feel. It will require a services wall that includes a large open log fire, bench space for preparing drinks and cupboards for storage. It is our intention that this services wall will also act as an anchor and tie the glass building to the wild, dramatic feel of the location.

This building will be located roughly as marked in the diagrams, and will have the view as shown in the photos. The location is wild, cold and dramatic, and lends itself to natural materials such as stone, timber and steel.

We do not require detailed drawings, however will need basic dimensions and your creative interpretation of what should be built here. We have attached photos provided by the glass house manufacturer of similar glass houses they have built. So consider this when designing the structure as the glass house portion needs to be somewhat similar in construction methods shown in the example photos. Once we have the initial concept the glasshouse company will make the detailed drawings for the glass structure portion.

Please pay extra attention to the services wall, as this will need to be cleverly done so as it makes the best use of the limited space available. Greater detail on this portion would be beneficial.

One whole side of the structure needs to have doors that open on to a paved area, this will allow cooling in summer and open the space for larger gatherings when needed.

Please consider the orientation of the building. We have attached a graphic of the general site conditions such as wind, view, sun and carpark etc. And photos of the location.

It is our intent to award this to the successful contestant and then work more closely with that person to fine tune the design. We will negotiate additional costs depending on the further level of detail required.
