#fast growing freelancer
speed sculpting sculpture
not considering the origami style i came up with this
sculpted in Zbrush in 20 minutes it may need more work, but the whole concept is what you see
Note : non symmetrical speed sculpting , i know it needs some work on the trail dust or clouds if you will- 11 years ago

Looks good, though I think there is too much excess of these clouds and not enough of the freelancer bird.

Some of your designs look good. Some of them are too complex however.

Many of these designs are reliant on the fact that the freelancer logo/text is printed in a different colour. These designs will also be rejected.

Hello everyone. How is your day?
#158
We came up with a design to take out the most from the Makerbot. The belly of the Bird logo is made out of an organic grid connected to all the other parts. All the letters of the "freelancer" are inside the grid connected such way that if you puss them gently they will fall of the grid and float inside the belly. They can not pulled out of the grid due to some calculations (or they can? think it as a puzzle). I hope you will enjoy the design. If someone out there has a 3d printer and want the design we give it free after the end of the competition in stl format.
Thank you all for checking.

Dammit. Can't add more than one picture. Some good designs here. One problem though...
This is for 3d printing which means $48 a roll of 1kg Coloured ABS, minimum wall width .8mm, Can only print in one colour at a time.
Objects of course should be an enclosed Manifold Hull and Hollow with an inner wall to save on material where possible.
Turned out a tougher challenge than I thought.- 11 years ago

I've messed around on shapeways before now but had no idea that the MakerBot software could do that. My life would have been so much easier had I have known.
I want one. I wa... Ah... I want $500 x 4 :-)- 11 years ago

Contest Holder - 11 years ago
I think we've been paying more like $70/roll for PLA plastic, not ABS.
Great insight on how to design for 3D printing. Thanks.- 11 years ago

please rate #106 if possible. i would gladly appreciate it. i showed a close up of clear cylinders to connect the pieces of the bird while keeping the gaps as the logo has. i'm getting my feet wet in 3d art and any criticism is welcome.
PS... i didn't mess much with the lighting as post said it didn't even need to textured.
THANKS!!!- 11 years ago

Your design doesn't show how it would stand up. I don't think the high detail of the supports will print.

Again, too intricate. The flower wont print.

may our graceful quarter of a master, quartermaster, forgives us :)
i've broken the rules.
thinking about the logo i have realized how much character it has
main idea was to givin it character so people could connect to this logo and understand it more easily with a little bit humor
a freelancer is a free blue bird with ease of mind making money in this world that has no color . world is dreamy , wonderful and origami like . . .- 11 years ago

# ORIGAMI GLOBE
let this twisted planet out of its cage like us free and blue in peace
really challenging mind boggling model,i used a lot of origami flower balls to understand how to make they work
oh quartermaster , maker bot wishes that it was never invented
as a freelancer we are not bound by any cage , we are trying to get this twisted planet free and blue , edgy not twisted
we should all be freelancers

This looks really cool, but the effect necessary with the various colours means this cannot be printed. It is much to flimsy and detailed.
