Contest Brief

I am looking for an original style of drawing. The illustration should be colourful and well drawn - a cartoon style. The illustration should be of a Cat, at a train station. The train is split into two levels, with humans in the top section of the train, and cats in the section underneath (with a cat flap for a train door). The train is heading to the City, where the humans and the cats work. The cats are reading newspapers or are on their phone or tablets, just the same as the humans are. Its a commuter scene. The Cats are dressed in the same way as humans would be. Top hats / suits etc.

Inspiration for a cat would be Tom from Tom and Jerry.

There is potential for more drawings for the winner.

Are the humans looking at them condescendingly or simply ignoring them? In what time in history do you imagine the setting? You saying they would be wearing top hats makes me guess they're in an above average society, am I correct?

I think you have also captured the concept very well. But you have actually drawn Tom from Tom & Jerry. Otherwise its good and thanks for your effort

I would advised not to do it. A sealed contest is guarantee of scammers using stolen drawings and designs. With a open one people might help you spot those ones.

The scene set it right, but the style of drawing is lacking in colour and depth. Quite abstract. Not really captivating for a child I'm afraid. Thanks

could you be specific as to what the illustration will be used for, is this for an editorial or a book etc? will the illustrator be credited if it is indeed a publication?

Hi, I am editing a drawing I did of the scenario in your brief. Do you want the cats to be about Tom's height, from Tom and Jerry? But dressed in human clothes.

Hi, I like drawing 3 because it is closer to following the story outlined. 5 is a good quality drawing, but the cat should be more "friendly" in terms of features, as it is in picture 1. Thanks

This is a black and white outline of a cat, so in terms of the briefing note, it is not in colour and it is not fulfilling any aspect of the story that was outlined. Cat should be more human in terms of dress sense, and human surroundings. Thanks
