Upgrade my existing logo to ensure individuality! The Word Bird name and logo

I am in the process of upgrading my website and brand. My current website is http://the-word-bird.weebly.com. My new website will be www.makingyourbrandfly.co.uk. The intention is for me to become known as The Word Bird at Making Your Brand Fly! I originally bought my logo from istock. I'm very happy with the fact that my logo is currently feminine, quirky, full of personality and eye-catching. I've built up a presence on social media and the logo is regularly noticed and complimented. However, I want something UNIQUE. The next stage on from what I have now but not so different that she is unrecognisable. I want to maintain all of the existing qualities but add professionalism and individuality. I generally use 'red bird with pencil' as attached. I'm happy with red, although I've been advised to change to shades of green or even purple as red is apparently a tricky colour in design and branding. I'm happy with either. My target market is SME's, going up to small corporates who are looking for a credible, professional copywriter with personality and talent. My logo must reflect this. Overall I want to maintain the essence of the existing logo but go for an upgrade! I really like the fact that she has a pencil, although bearing in mind the fact that I'm changing to makingyourbrandfly.co.uk, perhaps she should now be flying. I'm open to suggestions!
