Contest Brief

I’m developing a commercial-grade workout bench that feels equally at home on a busy gym floor or in a private training studio, and I need a product designer who can carry the idea from concept to manufacturing-ready files.

Core functionality
• Full adjustability: the backrest must travel from a true 90° upright to –30° decline; the seat should mirror that incline/decline capability.
• Dual-end usability: both the head and seat sides need receiver points for quick-lock attachments.
• Attachments in scope: foot anchoring unit, arm-curl module and leg-extension module must all integrate seamlessly with the main frame.
• Load rating: the final structure has to be certified for at least 1,200 lb dynamic capacity.
• Aesthetic: clean, modern industrial—think exposed, powder-coated steel with purposeful geometry rather than decorative curves.

I’ll lean on your expertise with SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or a comparable CAD suite for detailed models, exploded views and FEA validation. Weld specs, material call-outs and a simple BOM are also essential so I can move straight into prototyping.

Once we agree on the concept, I’d like high-resolution renders for marketing collateral, followed by the manufacturing package (STEP/IGES + PDF drawings). Feel free to suggest incremental milestones: concept sketch approval, engineering sign-off and final files delivery.

If you have experience designing strength-training equipment that meets commercial safety standards, I’d love to see examples and hear how you’d tackle durability testing for the 1,200-lb requirement.
