Contest Brief

I have a new IoT datalogger concept and need a full-fledged PCB layout that is ready to send straight to fabrication. The schematic is not fixed yet, so I’m relying on your board-level expertise to translate high-level requirements into a clean, production-ready design.

What I already know
• Form factor: credit-card sized (roughly 85 × 55 mm, single board).
• Core: a low-power MCU or module capable of handling multiple digital and analog inputs.
• Future-proofing: headers or pads for common temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors as well as optional wireless modules (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or cellular—final choice can be discussed once power budget is clear).
• Power: ability to accept both rechargeable battery input and external DC (buck/boost circuitry with reverse-polarity protection and battery charging IC).

What I need from you
1. Schematic capture: component selection with clear reasoning, part numbers, and footprints readily available from mainstream fabs (JLCPCB, PCBWay, etc.).
2. PCB layout: 2-layer preferred; 4-layer if routing or RF performance makes it significantly cleaner.
3. Deliverables: source files (Altium, KiCad, or Eagle), Gerbers, BOM with supplier links, pick-and-place, and a simple assembly drawing.
4. Basic design review session (video or detailed notes) so I understand key decisions and can iterate quickly.

Acceptance criteria
• All nets pass ERC/DRC with default manufacturer rules.
• Routing maintains 6 mil/6 mil or better; impedance-controlled traces clearly marked.
• Test points for firmware flashing and key signal debugging are accessible.
• Board boots on first spin with power and comms verified on bench (mock sensor loads are fine).

If you are comfortable juggling power management, sensor front-ends, and wireless considerations in a compact layout, let’s move forward. I’m ready to share concept sketches and any additional details you need right after kickoff.

Also, could you explain why the two ESP32s are connected wirelessly if they are on the same board, or perhaps are they physically different PCBs?

    Hello Contest Holder,
I can see that several AI-generated entries have already been uploaded above. I have carefully reviewed your brief and fully understand all of your requirements for the **IoT datalogger PCB design**.

I’m confident I can create a completely original and professional **schematic and production-ready PCB layout** that meets your form factor, power management, and sensor integration needs. I just need a little more information to ensure everything is perfectly aligned before starting.

    Looking forward to your message.

Hi, are you going with WiFi and bluetooth as a minimum wireless feature for this board?
